In September 2020, Saltdean Lido open it's doors to our furry friends for their annual dog swim a little later in the year to allow for more regular swimming before the pool is drained for the winter.
This years event ran with reduced numbers over a couple of weekends due to the Corona Virus and measures being taken to socially distance.
Andrej from the Dogfoods4u team went for the first time this year with his Havanese dog Lucifer and took a number of pictures from their day out, if your visiting Sussex which is home to the Dogfoods4u main hub at this time of year we definately recommend trying to get a ticket to this seasonal swim event.
Saltdean Lido is now owned and operated by the local community in partnership with Fusion after the community reacted angrilly to attempts by developers to flatten this beautiful listed building some years back.
Sundays event on the 27th September 2020 was the usual sell out event with dogs of all sizes excited to get into the water on the warm afternoon.
The event should have lasted 90 minutes but was cut slightly short after a dog who remains annonymous had a little accident in the water, staff were quick to spot the situation andd get everyone out of the water, sadly the day was cut short as the pool required overnight santisation.
Andrej said about the dog swimming event "This was a great afternoon, it really helped Lucifer build his confidence and I can't wait for next year, it was safe, clean and lovely seeing so many different breeds of dogs playing with their owners and each other, there was a single growl between customers.
For details of the yearly event, you can visit the Lido's website https://saltdeanlido.org/
